Enablement

Enablement means giving someone the ability to do something better. By enabling your team members, you are helping them be more capable of acting on a certain task or ability.

Enablement in the team context means:

  1. Understanding the current state of your team’s abilities
  2. Recognising the team’s future opportunities
  3. Shaping the necessary changes to more towards those opportunities

Examples of enablement in business:

  • Sales enablement – giving salespeople tools like templates and technologies like CRM to enhance and support their selling activities
  • HR enablement – giving HR people tools like talent playbooks and technologies like applicant tracking systems to support hiring
  • Finance enablement – giving finance people tools like ongoing finance education and technologies like Tableau for financial analytics
